How B2BWorkforce Works: An Insider's Guide to Getting the Most Out of Your Relationship with B2B

Part II- Working with our Sales Team

"I'm in sales." This is often said at cocktail parties, networking events, and various other casual meetings. The term "sales" is broad. The person selling you your morning cup of coffee is essentially in sales, as is the person who signs you to the most complicated of insurance policies. It seems fitting then, to take a look at this word that has so many nuances and explore it in reference to our company. Just what is "sales" at B2B Workforce?

The activities of the B2B Workforce sales team are fairly typical. Our sales force is tasked with maintaining our long-standing client relationships with the decision makers within the major ERP/ EAI/BI integrators, as well as leveraging several high-profile direct-to-customer accounts. In addition to these duties, they focus daily on keeping their fingers on the pulse of market, and work to develop strategic relationships within new accounts. These activities are typical, but not simple.

What then, is the central goal that gives focus to our sales activities and differentiates B2B Workforce from the competition? In a nutshell, it is our sales team's ability to develop and maintain key relationships at the project's ground-level. Keeping open lines of communication between the project manager on the ground and the B2B Workforce Sales Representative is the key to our ability to provide our B2B Consultants with cutting-edge consulting opportunities and a clear idea as to what your role on the project will be.

As a current B2B Consultant, how can you work with our sales team to grow your career? See below for some helpful tips from Brad Elster, Vice President of Sales.

  1. Make sure the copy of your resume we have on file is updated and clean. Presenting an accurate listing of your project experience, including your most recent project work, is incredibly important. If you've updated your resume recently, make sure your contact at B2B Workforce has a copy.
  2. Your references should be recent and available for contact. Any type of letter of recommendation is much appreciated.
  3. Always provide us with a good understanding of where the bulk of your experience lies (i.e. consumer goods, discrete mfg, A&D).
  4. Please let us know the guidelines to your work (i.e. 4 day workweek, no travel west of the Mississippi, etc...)
  5. Please be up front about vacation schedule and time off.
  6. Do anything else that can help us sell you to our clients, such as letting us know about recent "hot" skills you've picked up, or new certifications you have received that we might not know about.

Following these tips also helps our B2B Workforce Resource Management Team better match you with your next consulting opportunity. Next month we take a closer look at B2B's Resource Management and Delivery teams.

Health Tip from WebMD

Plagued by Pollen

Preventive tips, treatments, and more: Your survival guide for the spring allergy season.

By Miranda Hitti

WebMD Feature

Warmer weather may feel good after a long, cold winter, but spring can be rough on the nose and eyes. That's because hay fever, a seasonal allergy to pollen, kicks in just as the sunnier days arrive. Never been near a bale of hay, you say? You may still have hay fever, caused by the pollen from a variety of trees, grasses, and weeds. The allergy's hallmarks-stuffy nose, watery eyes, and fatigue-are a minor annoyance for some and bring full-blown misery to others.
