How B2BWorkforce Works: An Insider's Guide to Getting the Most Out of Your Relationship with B2B

Part III- A Guide to B2B's Recruitment Communication Processes.

FADE IN:

INT. CLIENT SITE - CONSULANT'S DESK - two o'clock in the afternoon

"The Consultant" sits at his desk. He is working busily. Suddenly the cell phone clipped to his belt rings softly with an incoming call.

(Phone rings.)

CONSULTANT:  Hello.
RECRUITER:  Good afternoon Mr. Consultant, I have a great opportunity for you that fits perfectly with your experience…

Maybe this sounds like a scene from your life. After all you have hot skills, and this is a hot market. Your phone probably rings quite a bit these days. (That's why we are careful to match your skills up with an opening *before* we call you). The initial reason consulting firms like B2B Workforce contact you is often very clear - they have an open position, and you have the rights skills to fill it. If you are interested and available, the application and interview stages begin.

From this point forward, the type of communications you have moving through the recruitment process can vary from firm to firm. While B2B Workforce tries to keep you informed at each step of the interview process, if you are new to working with us you may not yet be clear on who will be contacting you, or when and why.

So, to help you know what to expect, here is a brief guide to the B2B Recruitment process:

Initial Contact - Most often a B2B Workforce Resource Manager will be your first point of contact within our organization. Your Resource Manager will reach out to you initially if a friend or colleague refers you or if they find your resume to be an excellent match for a position through a job board search. While you will have contact with other members of our organization, your B2B Resource Manager will be your main point of contact, and will work with you throughout your consulting career, not just one contract.

Communication through interview/placement - The B2B Team will keep you in the loop regarding the status of your client interview and work with you to make sure the client has all the information needed to make an educated decision. During this time, you will still be working with your Resource Manager, but you may also be contacted by one of our Delivery Managers who work directly with the client and the Resource Management team to find the best match for you and our clients.

Ongoing Contact:

Retention Team - You will receive a call from our Retention Manager within your first week on the job. Ryan Lenox fills this role and will reach out to you to ensure you have access to the necessary time and expense systems and ensure everything is going well on the job. He will reach out to you again about a month before your scheduled roll-off date so we can begin the process of either extending your current contract or working to find your next one.

Sourcing Specialists - Following your initial contact with a Resource Manager, you will periodically hear from our Sourcing Specialists. A B2B Workforce SS will reach out to you and work with you to complete your B2B Workforce Consultant Profile. First completing, and then keeping your Consultant Profile updated, allows us to better and more quickly match you with the type of consulting opportunities that fit your skills and specific needs, such as a Monday through Thursday work week or contact from us regarding local positions only.

Email Alerts - Your Sourcing Specialist or Resource Manager should also ask you about our Consultant job alert program. Once enrolled in this invitation-only program, you will receive real-time email notification of our open positions. To help you quickly see the positions you are looking for, we send you only positions that match your specific skill-set.

So, we might not be able to stop all the erroneous recruiting calls you receive, but I do hope this roadmap helps you better navigate the B2B Workforce recruitment communication super-highway!

7 Tips for Eating While You Work
Having lunch at your desk - again? Here's how to make it healthier.

By Heather Hatfield

Ellen Spencer admits it: She's a desk diner.

"I eat lunch at my desk three or four times a week," says Spencer, an executive assistant in Boston. "I'd like to eat away from my desk with my friends more often, or just get away from my desk for a while, but usually it's just too busy."

Sound like anyone you know? Some 70% of Americans eat at their desks several times a week, according to the American Dietetic Association and ConAgra Foods Foundation.

FUN STUFF

This month, B2B Workforce's Marketing Coordinator, Kimberly Gendusa, challenges you to take on bored.com's Block Frenzy.

As the site warns you, this game can be "highly addictive." So, if you have a few, or better yet several, spare minutes, give it a try. Here's the challenge: beat Kimberly's record time of 21 seconds, or come as close as you can, and take a screen shot of your best time.

Those with the 3 highest scores we receive by Monday, April 15, 2007 (yes, tax day) will be sent a B2B Workforce calculator/clock. You can send your one best time to Kimberly at kgendusa@b2workforce.com. Good luck!
