From the CEO- a Look Ahead at Market Conditions by Tim Shearer

ERP Demand, All Systems are Go!

October of each year brings us a great opportunity to evaluate the market for our services by reviewing the economic and industry trends that drive demand. By evaluating the software license sales of SAP and Oracle and reviewing the results of our Systems Integrator clients such as Accenture and IBM, we can gain significant insight into the near term demand for ERP consultants. This review, coupled with an understanding of the underlying economic conditions and business cycles, help us understand our market and what we need to do to bring top quality opportunities to you, our consultants. Ask the Expert

How is the SAP SD market for a consultant with one year's experience, and can I get a full time job with this experience?

JR: We have two questions involving the SD module this month. I'll answer this first question, which is narrower in scope, and then move on to a broader question about the SD module. For this first question, we are considering the case of someone with a year of SD experience. The problem with a year of SD experience is that it all depends on the overall background of this person. For example, consider the case of someone who had worked in an unrelated field for a number of years, say, stock broker, and then acquired a year of SD experience. That's probably not enough to secure a full time job working in SD.
